We are now producing a slow release granular boron. The product is a unique combination of
sodium and calcium borate (sodium: calcium of 1:1v8), which ensures both an immediate and
long term supply of boron, with minimal loss through leaching. The sodium borate allows
early boron release whilst the calcium borate is available only over the long term, in
some cases up to 2-3 years.
It is interesting to note that recent studies in New Zealand and Chile have indicated a
response to this product even when it is applied to soils generally considered to contain
a sufficient supply of boron, i.e. soils in which trees are not showing signs of boron
deficiency. In seedlings the response has been greater root development, which has obvious
advantages for overall tree development. Post thinning applications have also shown a
response through increased tree vigor and also in improving wood quality. |
